Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Level 4

Level 4 example comment - three shapes have been
used to represent an object, the object does not form part of a design, but
shows that the student is able to produce a 3D representation of a solid object.
 | Work with multiple shapes |
 | Apply shading |
Level 5
|

Level 4/5 example comment (boxes) - for the
box a solid shape has been extruded to produce a container to meet a design
brief. |

Level 5 example comment (candle holder) - the
candle holder has been produced using the extrude tool on three workplaces
and a texture (silver metal) has been applied. |
 | Work with multiple shapes to produce a design meeting a need |
 | Apply shading to enhance the display of the design |
 | Use the extrude tool |
 | Apply textures to represent material |
 | Be able to use the software with little help |
Level 6
|

Level 6 example comment (phone) - multiple shapes
(including letters) have been used to represent the object the phone. The shapes
have been individually coloured and textured to represent the final material
(plastic). The use of light and shading enhances the
design effectively. |

Level 6/7 example comment (box) - the box shows
highly competent use of the extrude tool to produce a complicated shape for
a real design (click the bottom image to se the actual box*). A plan has
also been produced including dimensions. Wood texture has been applied to correctly represent the
final material. |
 | Work with multiple shapes - each shape to show individual texture/fill |
 | Apply shading/light angle to enhance features of design |
 | Student is able to use the software competently |
